BAWKU IMPASSE: _OTUMFUO AS MEDIATOR IS ENOUGH_, SAYS ARCHBISHOP DR. CYRIL BEN KOBINA SMITH
The protracted Bawku impasse continues to demand attention as a critical issue of national concern.
The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has assumed the vital role of mediator, drawing from his profound experience and revered status as a unifying figure within Ghana.
With mediation talks scheduled to resume on April 28, 2025, at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi, expectations for a lasting resolution are high.
Archbishop Dr. Cyril Ben Kobina Smith of the Anglican Church of West Africa Province has lent his unequivocal support to Otumfuo's efforts.
According to the Archbishop, the Asantehene's wisdom, leadership, and credibility are more than sufficient to guide the peace process and foster reconciliation among the feuding factions.
"The Otumfuo's track record in conflict resolution speaks volumes. His mediation is a beacon of hope in these challenging times, and we must rally behind him to achieve a peaceful outcome," the Archbishop remarked.
The forthcoming sessions are set to convene key leaders from the parties involved, alongside other stakeholders, to deliberate on sustainable pathways to peace.
Archbishop Dr. Kobina Smith emphasized the need for unity and collaboration, urging all sides to approach the dialogue with open minds and hearts.
As the nation anticipates the next phase of mediation, hopes are pinned on Otumfuo's leadership to transform the long-standing tensions in Bawku into a narrative of reconciliation and progress.
He brought fore this during Easter festivity in his encounter with the media.
